Portableapps U3 Hack

portableapps

I own a sandisk cruzer U3 drive, and I recently installed Windows 7 on my laptop. U3 (for now) doesn’t work on windows 7. I also think portableapps has more to offer then U3.

On a U3 drive you actually have 2 partitions, 1 virtual CD and a normal partition where you store your data. The CD part uses the autorun function to automaticly start the U3 launchpad.

Since it doesn’t work on Windows 7 there had to be a way to use the CD partition to launch portableapps instead of the U3 launchpad. I searched google and found a great tutorial to replace the U3 software with your own custom software.

Just follow the steps provided here ; http://portableapps.com/node/5221

Etch-A-Sketch

androidI don’t own a google android device (yet) but I came across a link on code.google.com that I think is pretty cool.

In the 90s, a big company from up north was extremely successful with a dialect of the programming language BASIC (acronym for Beginner’s All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code). One of the reasons it was so successful was that the language was easy to learn and use.

Bringing an easy to learn and use language to the mobile world and the Android platform is the goal of the Simple project. Simple is a BASIC dialect for developing Android applications. It is particularly well suited for non-professional programmers (but not limited to). Simple allows programmers to quickly write Android applications by using the components supplied by its runtime system.
